Montclair, NJ – Senior forward
MAURA JOHNSTON scored once and assisted on two other goals as No. 6 Montclair State battled through the rain and Ramapo College for a 5-0 victory in its New Jersey Athletic Conference opener on Friday evening.
Sophomore forward
KAITLYN STRUSS recorded a pair of assists as the Red Hawks (10-1, 1-0 NJAC) won their seventh straight contest while improved to 13-0 all-time against the Roadrunners while holding the visitors without a shot in the contest.
MEGAN ROELOFFS gave MSU the only goal it would need at the 11:31 mark of the first period. Capitalizing off the penalty corner, Johnston inserted the ball to Roeloffs who one-timed the shot into the back of the cage for her second goal of the year. Freshman
AMBER HASLETT added her fifth goal of the year less than five minutes later finishing off a feed from Struss, who then assisted on Johnston's goal at 21:05 giving Montclair a 3-0 lead at the half.

KAILEY DALGAUER gave MSU a four-goal lead 9:04 into the second half with Johnston picking up the assists. Sophomore
SAMANTHA LISK capped the scoring with 10:01 left as she jammed in a loose ball on the left side for her first career goal.

KAITLIN MAGUIRE and
KAIT PINERO combined on the shutout for Montclair State, the Red Hawks fourth of the season.
Montclair State is now off until Tuesday, October 6 when it travels to Kean University for a 7:30 matchup with the Cougars.
