CHARISSE MYERS scored on a penalty stroke 7:16 into the second half which turned out to be the only goal of the game as 10
th-ranked Montclair State edged FDU-Florham, 1-0 on Thursday evening.

REBECCA BRATTOLE stopped five shots for her fifth shutout of the season as the Red Hawks improved to 14-4 with their 10
th consecutive win against the Devils (13-6). MSU, which has won 14 or more games for the fifth straight season, leads the all-time series 13-11-1.
Montclair State outshot the host Devils 8-2 in the first half yet found itself in a scoreless battle. FDU-Florham keeper Amy Defnet stopped a Myers shot six minute into the game with Brattole returning the favor against Kim Davis at 18:26. Defnet made four more saves in the final 16-plus minutes, including a pair on penalty corners as time expired.
In the second half, Defnet again came up with a stop against
KAILEY DALGAUER at 41:39 but the Red Hawks were awarded the stroke 37 seconds later. Myers converted the opportunity for her fourth of the year and third via penalty stroke as Montclair took the 1-0 lead.
Brattole made that lead hold up with three saves in the next four minutes, the last against Stephanie Geskes on a rebound of a previous save. Montclair State countered with the next five shots of the game but each time Defnet, who finished with 11 saves, came up with a stop keeping the game at a one-goal margin.
FDU-Florham would get one last chance on a penalty corner with 2:32 to play. Davis looked for the equalizer however Brattole made the last of her five saves and a follow up shot was blocked.
The Red Hawks outshot the Devils 15-6 and also held a 15-4 advantage in penalty corners.
Montclair concludes its regular season on Saturday, October 31 with its final NJAC contest. MSU travels to Galloway Township to face Richard Stockton at Noon.
