Montclair, NJ - Junior midfielder Sarah Marion and sophomore midfielder Jessica Goldman scored early in the first half which held up as No. 16 The College of New Jersey posted a 2-0 victory over No. 23 Montclair State atr MSU Soccer Park on Saturday evening.
Senior midfielder Christina Roach and sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Thoresen each collected an assist as the Lions remained unbeaten on the season at 7-0-3, 3-0-1 in the NJAC. TCNJ also picked up first win over the Red Hawks since a 1-0 triumph in the semifnials of the NJAC Tournament in 2011.

MOLLY BARROW stopped five shots for MSU (8-2-1, 2-1-1 NJAC), which had its nine-match unbeaten streak snapped with the loss. Montclair had gon 8-0-1 since a 2-1 loss to Stevens in the opener on September 1. Montclair was 3-0-2 against the Lions in the last five meetings with all three wins coming during regular-season play. The two squads faced off in the NJAC Championship each of the last two years with both contests decided by penalty kicks.
Marion collected her third goal of theyear 3:23 into contest as she finished off a feed from Roach. Twelve minutes later it was Goldman collecting her second of the season as the Lions led 2-0 at the 15:53 mark.
TCNJ outshot MSU 5-3 in the first half and ended the game with an 11-9 edge in shots.
Jessica Weeder registered her eighth shutout in 10 games for the Lions. Weeder made three saves, all in the second half.
Montclair State will step out of conference play on Wednesday, October 7 as it travels to St. Joseph's (LI) for a 7:00 pm contest against the Golden Eagles.
