Owings Mills, MD – Oliva Monteiro scored the second of her two goals on the final shot with one second remaining lifting 20th-ranked Stevenson University to an 11-10 victory over Montclair State at Mustang Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Monteiro's goal was the final score in a back and forth affair as Stevenson (2-3) captured the first meeting between the two schools. Tori Wagner scored three times while Carli Bafford and Kathryn Merrick each scored twice.

KASEY MAGUIRE and
FRANCESCA VERRONE had two goals apiece for MSU (1-1) which had battled back from a four-goal deficit in the first half.
Monteiro scored the first goal of the contest 3:54 into the contest giving Stevenson a 1-0 lead however that was matched a minute later as Maguire netted the first of her two. The Mustangs then scored four times over the next eight minutes with Bafford and Wagner each scoring twice for a 5-1 lead with 17:21 left in the opening half.
Maguire stopped the run with her second goal but that was answered by Jordan Porretto with 13:21 to play making the score 6-2. It was Montclair State's turn to go on a scoring spree which the Red Hawks did. Bussiere collected a goal with 12 minutes to play and later added another with 3:08 to go cutting the lead to 6-4.
TIERNEY CONLON's unassisted marker with 1:59 remaining made it a one-goal game and MSU tied the contest at 6-6 with one second left before halftime as
AVIANA PARAGGIO finished off a feed from Maguire.
Merrick found the back of the net twice in the first 1:40 of the second half to put Stevenson back in front 8-6 but MSU countered with goals from Verrone and
VANESSA REY for an 8-8 tie with 15:53 left. The teams traded goals over a 46-second span as the game was a 9-9 deadlock with 14:07 to go before Bruno scored with just over 12 minutes remaining putting the Mustangs back on top 10-8.
Conlon set up Verrone with 8:01 remaining for the fourth tie on the contest at 10-10.
Conlon finished with six ground balls, four caused turnovers and three draws for Montclair State while Maguire also had three draw controls.
MEREDITH KING recorded four ground balls and Verrone registered a pair of draws.
REBECCA MYERS posted a pair of saves for MSU, which outshot the Mustangs 26-23.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, March 14 when it travels to Allentown, PA to face Muhlenberg College at 4:00 pm.
