Montclair, NJ – Senior midfielder Meghan Mills (Far Hills, NJ / Bernards) scored three goals while Coco Kusiak (Longmeadow, MA / Longmeadow) added two goals in the second half as No. 7 Amherst pulled away in the final period for a 10-3 victory over Montclair State on Monday afternoon.
Junior Rachel Passarelli (Hamden, CT / Hopkins School) collected two goals and an assist as the Jeffs (4-1) scored seven of the eight goals over the final 30 minutes to post their second consecutive victory.

TIERNEY CONLON (Caldwell, NJ / James Caldwell) scored twice for Montclair State, which fell back to the .500 mark at 2-2 with the loss.

VANESSA REY (Toms River, NJ / Toms River North) in front of the net for the game's first score. Amherst countered with Mills' first score off a free-position attempt and took the lead with 9:41 left as Passarelli finished off a feed from Mia Haughton (Princeton, NJ / Princeton).
Mills scored again with just under five minutes left in the opening period for a 3-1 Amherst advantage. Conlon tallied an unassisted marker with 2:06 to play as the Red Hawks drew within 3-2 at the break.
The Jeffs recorded the first two goals of the half as Kusiak set up Mills for the first one 2:44 in before scoring herself 41 seconds later as the lead grew to 5-2. Conlon stopped the run with her second a little over minute later but that would be it for MSU as Amherst scored the final five goals.
Claire Cagnassola (Summit, NJ / Oak Knolls) began the run with 23:45 left before goals from Kusiak and Passarelli made the score 8-3. Haughton and Priscilla Tyler (Providence, RI / The Wheeler School) completed the game-ending run for Amherst.
Mills finished with six ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers with Cagnassola getting three draws and three ground balls. Goalkeeper Christy Forrest (Madison, CT / Daniel Hand) stopped three shots for the Jeffs, who outshot Montclair State 21-10 in the game.

The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, March 21 with weekend set in Upstate New York. Montclair will face Fredonia on Saturday at Noon following by a Sunday, March 22 contest against The College at Brockport.
