Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Mount St. Vincent in Regular-Season Finale, 26-5

Red Hawks Gets Goals From 15 Players in Rout

Montclair, NJ – Junior BRETT MANGAN and senior MICHAEL JEVIC each scored three times and added an assist while junior ZACH SCHRECK tallied three goals as Montclair State cruised past Mount St. Vincent, 26-5 in their regular-season finale at Sprague Field on Saturday.

The Red Hawks won the fifth straight as they got scoring from 15 different players in the victory. Montclair (10-5) closed out its Skyline Conference slate at 6-0 for the fourth straight season.
MSU has won 29 consecutive Skyline Conference regular-season contests dating back to 2011.

Montclair, the six-time defending champion and top seed in the Skyline Tournament, will host Farmingdale State in a semifinal matchup at Sprague Field on Wednesday, April 29 at 4:00 pm. The Red Hawks downed the Rams, 13-4 at home on April 15.

MSU put up 11 goals in the first period, including the first two by Schreck, who scored 45 seconds into the contest before taking his a feed from his brother Michael Schrec three minutes later for a 2-0 lead with 11:32 left. Connon Cunningham found Mangan 43 seconds later and his feed to Jevic in front of the net with 10:21 left extended the lead to 4-0. It was the 100th career goal for Jevic, who then assisted n MICHAEL SCHRECK's goal with 9:12 to play giving Montclair four scores in a 2:20 span.

The Dolphins' Germain Ngaba stopped the early run with 7:05 to go however Jevic answered 30 seconds later and connected again with 4:15 left making the score 7-1. Mangan followed 13 seconds later and got his third with 15:32 before goals by GRIFFIN WOODFINLEVINE and ZACH SCHRECK in the final 35 seconds of the period gave MSU an 11-1 after one period.

ALEX HAHN and BLASE MANTINEO scored nine seconds apart to push the lead to 13-1 with 13:36 left in the second. SHAUN STERNER added a goal three minutes later and, after Ngaba scored again for CMSV, goals from LIAM CHRISTENSEN and Hahan 30 seconds apart with 3:11 remaining widened the lead to 16-2. MIKE RUSEN  tallied a little less than a minute later before ROB SKEELS put the exclamation point on the half scoring with five seconds as the Red Hawks led 18-3.

Rusen, Hahn, JUSTIN RUSSO, DYLAN HENINGBURG and ALEX VLACHOS all had two goals for Montclair State in the game. Cunningham led the way with three assists while DAVE DROZJOCK, COLTON SCHENCK and Heningburg each picked up two helpers. MSU won 28-of-34 faceoffs in the game with Brian Donavan going 12-for-16 with eight ground balls while Mantineo was 10-of-11 with eight. Drozjock was 6-of-7 with four.

Freshman goalkeeper BOBBY GRAZIANO stopped six shots as he finished out the final 43:45 of the game.
