Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Kean for Fourth Straight Victory, 13-4

Paraggio Scores Four; Maguire, Bussiere, Verrone Net Hat Trick

Union, NJ – Sophomore AVIANA PARAGGIO scored four times and Montclair State got hat tricks from three other players as the Red Hawks rolled to their fourth straight victory with a 13-4 triumph over Kean University at Alumni Stadium on Tuesday evening.

JENNA BUSSIERE, FRANCESCA VERRONE and KASEY MAGUIRE each found the back of the net three times helping MSU up their record to 6-4 overall, 2-0 in the NJAC. Eliza Clark had two goals for Kean (2-8, 0-2 NJAC).

The Red Hawks scored all nine goals in the first half as Montclair State outshot the Cougars, 25-9 in the period. ALEXA DIPIERO put MSU on the board 64 seconds into the game and Verrone sparked a run of three goals over a four-minute span beginning with a short-handed tally with 18:57 left. Bussiere scored three minutes later and Maguire's goal with 14:17 to play made it 4-0.

Paraggio scored twice in a 37-second span with just under seven minutes left extending the lead to 6-0 and TIERNEY CONLON scored with 5:10 left for a seven-goal advantage. SERENA HITCHINS and Bussiere accounted for the final two goals of the period.

Paraggio's third goal of the game early in the second half pushed the lead to double digits before Kean's Jordan Blanda ended the MSU scoring explosion with 24:25 remaining. Bussiere and Maguire answered with goals giving MSU a 12-1 lead with 18:30 to play.

Maguire collected five draws while Bussiere and Conlon had two apiece. MEREDITH KING, Conlon and BRITTANY DILGER forced three turnovers apiece with Conlon leading the way with six ground balls. Goalkeeper ALEXANDRA TEPPER, who had 10 saves, picked up five ground balls as did King.

 The Red Hawks are back in action on Saturday, April 12 as it hosts Rowan University at Sprague Field with game time of the NJAC contest slated for 1:00 pm.
