New York, NY - The Montclair State volleyball dropped a pair of identical four-set matches to Hunter College and Salisbury University in the Hunter Invitational on Friday evening.
The Red Hawks (7-6) split first two sets with Hunter before the host Hawks grabbed the final two for the victory. In the loss to Salisbury, MSU captured the opener 25-16 however the Sea Gulls roared back with wins in the next three, 25-19, 25-18, 25-16 to take the match.
Against Hunter,
NIKKI SENOPOULOS led the way with 16 kills while
COURTNEY MATLOCK and
MADISON MAUTE had eight and seven respectively.
ASHLEY GRIFFITH had 20 digs with Senopoulos completing the double-double with 18 digs. Libero
DANIELLE OLCESE had 15 digs along with a pair of service aces.
KIMBERLY MATLOCK registered 30 assists.
April D'Angelo and
MELISSA TERPSTRA each had double-doubles in the loss to Salisbury. D'Angelo notched 13 kills along with 16 digs while Terpstra went for 10 kills and 14 digs. Senopoulos again led Montclair State with 13 kills. Griffith accumulated 32 assists and
LILY SCANZILLO chipped in with 12 digs.
Montclair State is returns to action in the Hunter Invitational on Saturday, September 26 taking on Sarah Lawrence at 11:00 am.
