Men's Soccer Tops Stockton for Tumelty's 100th Win

Terci, Rose, Small With Goals for Red Hawks

Galloway, NJ – Senior LUCAS TERCI scored his league-leading 15th goal in the first half and Montclair State tacked on two more in the second lifting the Red Hawks to a 3-0 win over Stockton University on Saturday afternoon.

AARON ROSE and JERMAINE SMALL each scored as the Red Hawks (9-3, 2-2 NJAC) gave head coach Todd Tumelty his 100th career victory.

Terci gave the Red Hawks the only goal they turned out to need in the 21st minute heading in a pass from MICHAEL CZYRNEK. Goalkeeper MIKE SAALFRANK made the 1-0 lead hold up the rest of the half as he made two of his six saves in the opening period.

He would make three more early in the second half, including consecutive stops against Anthony Colofranson and Zach Burns in the 57th minute as well as a save versus Bobby Riordan at the 58:29 mark.

Terci nearly extended the lead in the 64th minute however his shot hit the crossbar. After another save from Saalfrank, Montclair got some breathing room as Rose netted his third of the year. After a Terci shot was stopped by Michael Lescano, Rose was able to gather the rebound before depositing a shot in the back of the net.

Small got the final goal for the Red Hawks, his first with 15:13 remaining. STEVEN ZAMUDIO picked up the assists as Small tipped in the feed.

Saalfrank registered his fourth shutout of the year for MSU, which outshot the Ospreys 17-13. Each team had two corner kicks.

Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, October 5 in Purchase, NY against Manhattanville College at 7:00 pm.
