Women's Soccer Shut Out by No. 9 TCNJ, 3-0

Burns Makes Four Saves

Ewing, NJ – Senior goalkeeper ALYSON BURNS stopped five shots however No. 9 TCNJ kept the Red Hawks out of the goal as the Lions blanked Montclair State, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Hawks fell to 11-3-1 on the year, 5-2 in the NJAC while TCNJ remained unbeaten at 12-0-1, 7-0 in the conference.

Elizabeth Thoresen tallied her sixth goal of the season to open up scoring 15 minutes into the game. Christine Levering had an initial shot that hit the crossbar and popped back into play. Thoresen picked up the rebound and shot the ball past the Burns, into the left side of the net.
 
Seven minutes into the second half, Levering added a goal of her own to make the score 2-0. She collected a high pass, moved around a defender and shot the ball to the left side of the goal.
 
Thoresen netted her second goal of the game in the 61st minute. Levering had a shot that Burns dove and punched away. Thoresen gathered the rebound and sent the ball into the middle of the net making the score 3-0.
 
Jessica Weeder made two saves for TCNJ, which outshot Montclair State 14-4 in the game.

The Red Hawks are now off until Saturday, October 22 when it hosts Rutgers-Newark at MSU Soccer Park on Homecoming. Kickoff of the NJAC contest is slated for 6:00 pm.
