Ewing, NJ – Jaclyn Douglas scored twice during a three-goal second half as No. 12 The College of New Jersey blanked 15
th-ranked Montclair State 4-0 at Lions Stadium on Saturday.
The Lions upped their record to 8-3 on the year and remained perfect in the NJAC at 3-0. MSU had its three-game winning streak snapped as the Red Hawks dropped to 9-4 overall while suffering its first conference loss (2-1).
TCNJ outshot Montclair State 24-4 yet the Red Hawks trailed just 1-0. Douglas had the lone goal in the half as she deflected in a shot by Alexa Magnotta with 3:17 to go before halftime.
Lexi Smith provided some breathing room for the Lions smacking in shot from the top of the left circle at the 48:31 mark. Smith then assisted on Douglas' second five minutes later as TCNJ led 3-0. Cayla Andrews provided the final score with 7:49 to play banging back in a rebound.
KAITLIN MAGUIRE stopped nine shots for the Red Hawks with
CAMILLE MAIMONE preventing another goal with a defensive save.
Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, October 12 with a road game at Muhlenberg College. The Red Hawks and Mules will square off at 7:30 pm in Allentown, PA.
