Mangan's Four Goals Helps Men's Lacrosse Past Muhlenberg, 15-5

Red Hawks Snap Three-Game Skid; Carlson Records Hat Trick

Montclair, NJ – Senior attack BRETT MANGAN scored four times and assisted on two other goals as Montclair State snapped a three-game losing streak with a 15-5 win over Muhlenberg College at Sprague Field on Wednesday afternoon.

COREY CARLSON registered a hat trick while BRADY WULSTER and CONNOR CUNNINGHAM each added two goals as the Red Hawks (2-5) used a six-goal run in the third period to break open the contest. MSU registered its fifth straight victory against the Mules (3-4) as it upped its lead in the all-time series to 7-5.

MSU led 3-2 after one period as Cunningham and Mangan scored early in the period with ROB SKEELS notching a goal just past the midpoint of the period. Mangan's second goal 1:23 in the second sparked a three-goal run by the Red Hawks then ended with 1:44 to play as Mangan netted the hat trick for a 6-2 Montclair State advantage.

Brandon Miller scored eight seconds after the faceoff to being the second half cutting the lead to 6-3 before the Red Hawks went on their run. Mangan assisted on back-to-back goals from Wulster, the last coming with 10:18 left extending the lead to 8-3. ZACH SCHRECK scored on a man-up 49 seconds later while Mangan registered his fourth with 6:14 to play. Carlson had the final two giving Montclair a 12-3 lead heading in to the fourth.

Carlson and freshman ROB PAPA and DAN BELLEZZA each scored in the fourth for the Red Hawks.

Freshman goalkeeper JACK CARDEW stopped five shots to pick up his first collegiate victory in goal. Donn Finn picked up two assists with faceoff specialist BLASE MANTINEO putting together another outstanding day at the "X" winning 13-of-15 attempts along with 11 ground balls. RYAN TOTIN had three caused turnovers and a pair of ground ball. Defenseman RYAN YOUNG forced a pair of turnovers in addition to scooping up four ground balls.

Montclair is back in action on Saturday, March 19 when it hosts Union College at Sprague Field beginning at Noon.
