Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Mount St. Vincent, 25-3

Red Hawks Back to .500 Mark, Remain Unbeaten in Skyline

Riverdale, NY - Junior attack DON FINN scored all three of his goals in an explosive first quarter for Montclair State as the Red Hawks rolled to a 25-3 win over College of Mount St. Vincent on Saturday afternoon.

Finn scored three times and collected two assists while BRETT MANGAN added two goals and five helpers for MSU, which climbed back to the .500 mark at 6-6 overall while improving to 2-0 in the Skyline. BRYAN PETERS, ROB PAPA, DYLAN HENINGBURG and JAKE HOFFNER each recorded hat tricks for Montclair, which had eight different players register multiple-goal contests.

COREY CARLSON got the Red Hawks on the board 1:32 into the contest and goals by Mangan and Finn 33 seconds apart gave MSU a quick 3-0 lead. The Dolphins would score less than a minute later however Montclair State put up the next six goals in a 4:18 span. BRADY WULSTER got the run going and Mangan tallied 19 seconds later. Finn's second made the score 6-1. Peters added the next two with Finn scoring again with 4:21 to go for a 9-1 advantage.

Mount St. Vincent's Germain Ngaba connected on a power-play goal to break the run however Montclair got the final two of the opening period. Wulster scored his second with 22 ticks left and BRIAN DONOVAN beat the first-quarter horn giving MSU an 11-2 lead after one period.

Hofner started off the second quarter with his first goal of the season and back-to-back goals by Henningburg 37 seconds apart pushed the lead to 14-2. Papa scored twice to close out the half as Montclair led by 14.

DAN BELLEZZA had two goals and two assists for Montclair State, which was 23-of-29 faceoffs in the game. BLASE MANTINEO was 10-of-11 with five ground balls while Donovan won 13-of-18 with four ground balls. LUCAS JONES stopped six of nine shots he faced.

Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, April 20 with another road contest in the Skyline. MSU heads to Union, NJ to face Kean University at 7:30 pm.
