NOEL HODGINS in the fourth. Gehring added another sac fly in the sixth setting up Montclair State's rally in the seventh.
Samantha DiClementi, Hodgins and
LAUREN BOOTH all singled with one out in the seventh loading the bases. After a pitching change,
BROOKE POWERS singled to center scoring DiClementi and Hodgins bringing MSU within 5-4. A ground out moved the runners into scoring position with two outs. Gehring would then deliver with a single to left field as Montclair took its first lead of the afternoon.
Booth made that lead hold up as she retired the side in order in the seventh. The left-handed Booth (3-1) got the win in relief as she allowed just two hits in the final five innings. Kelly Yusko (11-11) took the loss for the Scarlet Raiders (14-16, 4-8 NJAC).
Booth helped her own cause at the plate going 3-for-4 while Hodgins collected two hits for MSU.
Yusko would outduel
SAM KEATING in the opener as an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning proved to be the difference in the 1-0 contest. Yusko scattered eight hits and struck out two in the shutout win. Keating (8-6) was the hard luck loser giving up six hits and an unearned run.
Samantha Hoffman plated the lone run of the game with a single down the rightfield line.
