Women's Lacrosse Rolls to First NJAC Win at Ramapo, 20-7

Hitchins Seven Points, Lare Four Goals for MSU

Mahwah, NJ - Senior SERENA HITCHINS scored three times and collected four assists while LINDSAY LARE tallied four goals helping Montclair State pick up its first NJAC victory with  20-7 triumph at Ramapo College on Tuesday.

KASEY MAGUIRE put Montclair on the board 37 seconds into the game finishing off a feed from CHELSEA ORBAN. Hitchins and Lare scored 19 seconds apart with 24 minutes to go giving the Red Hawks a 3-0 advantage. Lindsay Hughes ended the run with 18:48 left however FRANCESCA VERRONE answered 22 seconds later stating a four-goal run by Montclair State. Orban and Hitchins each had goals with Maguire's second goal extending the lead to 7-1 with 11:52 left.

Hughes scored the next two for the Roadrunners and two scored from Alyssa Tachon closed the game to 8-5 with just under four minutes remaining. The Red Hawks would put the next five goals on the board pulling away to a 12-5 lead at halftime. Lare had the first two goals with KARA CRAMPTON and AVIANA PARAGGIO each scoring once.

The Montclair run of goals continued into the second half with the first six stretching the spurt to 11 straight. Hitching assisted on the first goal by Orban and then got one herself for a 14-5 lead. Paraggio scored with 27:34 to play and Verrone tallied consecutive goals with Crampton capping the run as MSU led 18-5 with 19:07 left.

Verrone and Crampton each had hat tricks with Maguire and Orban finishing with two goals and two assists each. Orban led the team with five draws while Maguire, Verrone and Crampton recorded four apiece. Goalkeepers REBECCA MYERS and ALEXANDRA TEPPER had made two saves each.

The Red Hawks are back in action on Saturday, April 23 hosting Stockton University at Sprague Field beginning at 3:00 pm.
