Men's Lacrosse Storms Past Mt. St. Mary for Fourth Straight Win, 19-7

Mangan 8-Point Day, Finn Three Goals, Three Assists

Montclair, NJ - Senior attack BRETT MANGAN scored five goals and added three assists with junior attack DON FINN posting a hat trick and three assists helping Montclair State to its fourth straight win in a 19-7 victory over Mount St. Mary at Sprague Field on Saturday.

Senior midfielder ZACH SCHRECK added three goals and two assists for the Red Hawks, who used a six-goal run in the first half en route to upping its record to 8-6 overall. Montclair also remained unbeaten in the Skyline Conference at 4-0. Mount St. Mary fell to 10-5 on the year, 1-4 in league play.

The Red Hawks jumped out to a three-goal lead in the first four minutes of the contest. Schreck put MSU on the board 1:45 into the game and Finn followed with his first goal 24 seconds later before Mangan's goal with 11:37 left gave MSU the 3-0 lead. Danny Kugler broke the run however Montclair began its six-goal run with Schreck scoring off a Mangan assist with 4:20 to go in the opening perdio. Schreck set up CONNOR CUNNINGHAM for a goal as MSU led 4-1 after the first.

The scoring continued in the second. Mangan scored 1:20 into the period and Cunningham followed 31 second later making the score 7-1. Finn assisted on goals by Mangan and Schreck, respectively as the MSU lead grew to eight goals. Joseph Rizzotti ended the barrage however Montclair began another one with final five goals of the half for a 14-2 lead at the break. Finn scored the first two with BRADY WULSTER adding a goal and two assists.

Mangan scored early in the third period with DYLAN HENINGBURG getting the first of his two goals for a 16-2 lead with 7:07 left in the third. Wulster scored 46 seconds later and Heningburg set up faceoff man BLASE MANTINEO with 6:07 for a 19-3 advantage.

Cunningham collected a hat trick with Wulster totaling two goals and two assists. Mantineo finished 17-of-23 on faceoffs with seven ground balls. Mangan also posted three caused turnovers and three ground balls while defenseman RYAN YOUNG chipped in with five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. LUCAS JONES stopped eight shots for the Red Hawks.

Montclair State returns to action on Tuesday, April 26 hitting the road to Long Island for a 6:00 pm matchup at Farmingdale State.
