Montclair, NJ - Senior midfielder
ZACH SCHRECK scored the go-ahead goal during a stunning comeback in the final minute helping Montclair State to the Skyline Conference regular-season title in a 10-8 victory at Farmingdale State on Tuesday evening.
BRADY WULSTER and
RYAN TOTIN each scored in the final flury as the Red Hawks (9-6, 5-0 Skyline) extended their winning streak to five games. MSU captured the Skyline regular-season crown for the fifth consecutive season and eigth time in the last nine years. Montclair, the seven-time defending league champion, will be the No. 1 and will host a semifinal contest at Sprague Field on Wednesday, May 4 against an opponent to be determined.
The Red Hawks trailed 2-1 after one period of play, but provided all the scoring in the second for a 6-2 lead at the break.
COREY CARLSON scored 42 ticks into the second and then put MSU up 3-2 with his second at the 4:05 mark. Wulster got his first near the midpoint of the quarter and then set up Schreck with 2:12 to go for a 5-2 lead. Schreck assisted on a
DON FINN goal with 32 seconds remaining giving the Red Hawks a four-goal cushion at halftime.
The Rams (11-4, 3-2 Skyline) answered that with all three goals in the third as Conor Pittard netted all three, the last with 1:30 to play as Farmingdale State closed within 6-5 heading into the fourth. Daniel Desimone tied the game 1:27 into the fourth and Michael Cegielski's man-up goal a minute later gave the Rams the lead 7-6. Mike Curry completed the six-goal run as Farmingdale led 8-6 with 10:47 left.
MSU crept back within a goal with 4:31 to play as
DYLAN HENINGBURG scored on the man-advantage. The Red Hawks would get chances however several shot attempts went wide until the final minute. Maintaining possession off one of those missed shots,
BRETT MANGAN, the Skyline Offensive Player of the Week, found Wulster with 40 seconds left for the tying goal as the game was knotted at 8-8.
BLASE MANTINEO, who won 17-of-20 faceoffs on the day, came up with a huge win giving Montclair a chance for the lead which it would take advantage of as Mangan fed Schreck for the go-ahead tally with 17 seconds left.
RYAN TOTIN added the final goal with two seconds completing the comeback for the Red Hawks.
LUCAS JONES had seven saves for Montclair State, which got two goals and three assists from Schreck. Finn recorded two goals and two assists. Mantineo led the way with nine ground balls while Totin added five in addition to five caused turnovers.

Montclair State closes out its regular season on Saturday, April 30 hosting Maritime College on Senior Day at 1:00 pm.
