Montclair, NJ – Senior
BRETT MANGAN scored six times and three assists while classmate
ZACH SCHRECK added five and two assists as Montclair State finished off its regular season with an 18-6 win over Maritime College at Sprague Field.
BRADY WULSTER connected three times along with an assist as Montclair won its sixth straight game while finishing 6-0 in Skyline play for the fifth consecutive season. The Red Hawks, the seven-time defending league champion, will be the top seed in the Skyline Conference Tournament which begins on Wednesday, May 4.
MSU hosts fourth-seeded Kean University at 6:00 pm in one semifinal contest. The Red Hawks defeated the Cougars 14-7 in Union, NJ on April 20.
Montclair honored 12 seniors prior to the game and then saw two of them dominate during the first half as Mangan and Schreck, ranked 7
th and 8
th all-time at MSU in goals scored, combined for eight of the 12 scores.
Schreck put MSU on the board 2:42 into the game finishing off a feed from
DON FINN. Maritime's T.J. Ragusa tied the game 33 seconds later however MSU exploded for the final 10 goals of the period. Schreck set up Mangan half a minute after the Ragua goal with defenseman
RYAN YOUNG scoring with 10:24 left. Mangan got the next two, including a man-up tally with 8:26 to go for a 5-1 lead.
Mangan set up Wulster 12 seconds later and added his fourth of the period with 2:59 remaining extending the lead to 7-1. Heningburg connected inside the last minute off an assist from Schreck and then set up Mangan for the latter's fifth with 24 ticks.
STEVE MEGILL beat the first period horn as MSU led 10-1.
Schreck accounted for the only two goals in the second quarter extending the Red Hawk lead to 12-1 at the break.
Goalkeeper
LUCAS JONES made 13 saves for Montclair State, which got two caused turnovers apiece from Young and
JAMES BENFATTI.
BLASE MANTINEO was 12-of-16 on faceoffs withseven
ground balls. Young added five along with Jones.
Prior to the game the Red Hawks honored their 12 seniors - Mangan, Schreck, Benfatti,
