Mahwah, NJ - Fourth-ranked Ramapo College scored four times in the first inning which proved to be too much to overcome as the Roadrunners snapped Montclair State's three-game winning streak with an 8-2 win at Jeff Maund Field on Friday afternoon.

JOE FOOTE had two hits and an RBI for the Red Hawks, who fell to 11-10 overall on the season, 2-1 in the NJAC with the loss. The game was the first of a home and home set which will be completed on Monday, April 11 at Yogi Berra Stadium when the teams square off again at 3:30 pm.
Ramapo's first inning began after the Red Hawks got the first two hitters. A walk kept the inning going and that turned into the game's first run as Connor Walsh singled in Joe Venturino. Brandon Martinez and Scott Paulus added RBI singles for a 3-0 lead before an error brought home the fourth run.
The Roadrunners added another run in the third and extended its advantage to 7-0 in the fourth as Martinez blasted a two-run home run.

PHILIP SCOTT added an RBI on a ground out as MSU got within 7-2.
John Doherty (4-1) got the win as he recorded the first 16 outs of the game. Doherty allowed four runs and two hits, striking out four and walking five.
CONNOR LINDSAY (1-1) took the loss.

Before matching up with the Roadrunners again, Montclair State will host Kean University on Sunday, April 10 in a doubleheader at 11:30 am. The Kean contests were scheduled for Saturday however the forcasted rain/snow showers forced the NJAC twinbill to be pushed back a day.
