ASHLEY KOESTER had a goal and assist and was named Most Valuable Player as Montclair State captured the Mount St. Mary Tournament with a 4-0 victory over the host school on Saturday evening.
Freshman
EMILY BEENDERS also had a goal and assist for the Red Hawks (4-0-1), who recorded their fifth shutout in as many games.
Junior
TYLER MADISON gave the Red Hawks a 1-0 lead at the 13:03 mark with her third goal of the year, a curling shot the ducked inside the far post from the top of the box. Koester added to the lead in the 31
st minutes.
CHRISTINE MAYORGA, who had three goals in the win on Friday, crossed a pass inside the box that Koester was able to knock in for a 2-0 lead.
Junior
DANIELLA GRECO pushed the lead to three goals with 14:03 left taking a pass inside the box from Koester and depositing it inside the far post. Beenders, who also had an assist on that play, got the final goal with 7:17 left finishing a feed from
BROOKE TARTIS.
MOLLY BARROW collected the shutout, her second of the season.
The Red Hawks outshot the Knights (1-4) 15-4 and took all seven corner kicks in the contest.
Montclair State is back in action on Wednesday, September 14 when it hosts Swarthmore College at MSU Soccer Park at 7:00 pm.
