In a rare matchup, not only did both teams come in with unblemished records, neither Swarthmore nor Montclair State had yet to surrender a goal this season. And it appeared as though it would stay that way through the first 45 minutes as each team put forth four shots that could not find the back of the net.
Swarthmore would outshoot the Red Hawks 12-7 in the second however the game remained deadlocked at 0-0 until Dougherty broke it up with her second goal of the year finishing off a feed from Seneca Kinn-Gurzo at 75:20. The goal snapped MSU's scoreless streak at 545:20.
Montclair would get two chances in the last five minutes but came away empty each time. Hunter mad a save on a shot by
KATIE IANNUZZI with 4:02 left.
JENNIE HORNSTRA got off a shot with 1:43 to play however that attempt went wide.
The Red Hawks now turn their attention to conference play as they head to Mahwah, NJ on Saturday, September 17. MSU faces Ramapo College at 1:00 pm.
