Patchogue, NY – Montclair State scored 10 of the final 12 points in the fourth set to finish off a four-set win over host St. Joseph's College (LI) on Friday evening.

COURTNEY MATLOCK had 13 kills with just
HAYLEY MERRILL added 12 as MSU (6-2) dropped the first set 27-25 before coming back with set wins of 25-12, 25-21 and 25-21 to take the match. The victory was the 100
th for MSU head coach Eddie Stawinski, who became the second coach in program history to reach the century mark in wins.
The Red Hawks led 24-21 in the opening set before the Golden Eagles (1-5) ripped off the next four points for a 25-24 advabtage.
REBECCA MATASKER tied the set back up however SJC scored the next two points to go up 1-0 in the match.
Montclair State rebounded with a solid hitting performance in the second set. MSU posted a .346 efficiency committing just one error in 26 attempts as it squared the match at one set apiece. After taking the third set 25-21, the Red Hawks found themselves down 19-15 before making its comeback.
MADISON MAUTE bookended a 6-0 run as MSU went up 21-19. After an SJC point, Montclair tallied the next three including back-to-back kills from Matlock making the score 24-20. The Eagles' Courtney Bocchieri kept the match going with a kill however Matakser ended the match with the last of her seven kills.

ASHLEY GRIFFITH had 38 assists, five kills, three aces and 14 digs while
NATALIA MAJKUT chipped in with six kills and four blocks.
DANIELLE OLCESE led the way with 18 digs with
LILY SCANZILLO
totaling 11 digs.
Montclair State is in action twice on Saturday, September 17 in the St. Joseph's Tournament. The Red Hawks face Cortland at 10:00 am before wrapping up the day with a 2:00 pm contest against Old Westbury.
