Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams had their respective four-meet win streaks snapped on Saturday as the Red Hawks dropped an NJAC dual meet to Rowan University at the Panzer Athletic Center Pool.
Sophomore
JAMES SINGEWALD and freshman
CLAIRE LUIGARD each won three individual events for MSU as both teams are now 6-3 overall (0-2 NJAC). The men fell to Profs 155-139 while the women suffered a 168-117 setback.
Singewald captured both backstroke events, winning the 100 in a time of 54.72 seconds before coming back later to win the 200 event (1:58.12). Luigard did the same only in the breaststroke with victories in the 100 (1:09.51) and 200 (2:30.25). They each took first in the 200 individual medley as Singewald swam 2:01.91 in his win while Luigard went 2:17.08 in her triumph.
DAN KNEPPLE led a 1-2-3 finish by the Red Hawks in the 1000 freestyle Knepple recorded a winning time of 10:21.62 with
NICANDRO DONADIO (10:24.75) and
MITCHELL LAYNE (10:27.70) finishing second and third, respectively.
HUNTER ROMANOWSKI captured the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:46.94 with
KEVIN GIBSON placing second at 1:47.45.
STEVEN ROTH (1:58.12) and
KEVIN HENNINGSEN (1:59.79) went 1-2 in the 200 butterfly with the 400 freestyle relay team of Romanowski, Gibson, Roth and
CHARLES COBBERTT taking the top spot for that event with a time of 3:15.78.
MADISON FRANKE won twice in freestyle events. Frank won the 200 event in a time of 2:02.58 before coming back to win the 50 free in 25.57 seconds.
ERIN CANNON took first place in the 200 backstroke at 2:16.93.
Montclair State is back in action on Saturday, January 21 as it hosts Ramapo College at 1:00 pm.
