Washington D.C., - The Montclair State volleyball team dropped their first two matches at the Worthington Classic at Gallaudet University on Friday evening.
MSU (7-7) opened the day with a four-set loss to RIT.
NATALIA MAJKUT had eight kills as the Red Hawks lost the first two sets to the Tigers 25-17 and 25-21. Montclair held off the sweep with a 25-14 win in Set 3 but RIT closed out the match with a 25-19 victory.
SARAH GONCZLIK added six kills while
JILLIAN WILSON and
SCHYLER WHITE chipped in with five apiece.
ASHLEY GRIFFITH picked up 29 assists with
LILY SCANZILLO recording 23 assists. Majkut and Wilson combined for 11 blocks and White served up four aces in the loss.
Majkut had eight kills and
CAITLIN LANGE seven in a three-set loss to DeSales. White and
SIYARA HERBERT added five each while Griffith registered 25 assists along with six digs. Scanzillo totaled 19 digs.
Montclair State completes its appearance on Saturday, September 30 with two matches. The Red Hawks face Neumann University at Noon followed by a 4:00 pm matchup with host Gallaudet.
