Women's Soccer Posts 2nd Straight Scoreless Draw

Montclair, William Paterson Deadlocked at 0-0

Wayne, NJ  - The Montclair State women's soccer team posted its third consecutive shutout however for the second straight game the Red Hawks were forced to settle for a draw in a 0-0 tie at William Paterson on Wednesday evening.

The Red Hawks ran their unbeaten streak to six games as it moved to 6-3-4 on the season while remaining unbeaten in NJAC play at 4-0-2. The four ties are the most in one season by Montclair State since the 2005 campaign. Freshman goalkeeper PHOEBE BLEDSOE made four saves.

A pair of post shot highlights the first 10 minutes of the match. WPU's Marisa Adelman clanged one off the iron at the 5:51 mark with Montclair's CATHERINE CARNEVALE doing the same in the 10th minute after JULIA KELLY was denied by Pioneer goalkeeper Angela Sandelli.

Montclair would come close again in the 33rd minute however another bar was hit as a MELANIE CUNHA shot banged off the crossbar. The Red Hawks would hit another crossbar in the second half when MADDY MCLELLAND hit on off the iron in the 51st minute. The unlucky evening for shooters continued as Adelman hit the post for the second time at 67:44.

Both keepers would be tested in the first overtime. Sandelli made saves against Cunha twice in a span of a minute with Bledsoe coming up big against Adrianna Oliveira and Adelman 36 seconds apart in the 99th minute.

Sandelli made one more stop in the second OT period, denying EMILY BEENDERS in the 105th minutes. Bledsoe made her first save with 1:03 left, smothering an attempt from Adelman.

MSU returns to action on Saturday, October 14 when its hosts third-ranked The College of New Jersey at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff for the NJAC and Homecoming matchup is set for 1:00 pm.
