JILLIAN WILSON recorded a career-best 19 kills and added three blocks as Montclair State swept past local rival William Paterson at the WPU Rec Center on Thursday evening.

SCHYLER WHITE added 11 kills and five digs for the Red Hawks (11-9), who took three straight sets from the Pioneers 25-16, 25-21 and 25-13. The victory moved MSU to 3-4 in the NJAC and the No. 6 spot in the race for the conference tournament. Montclair is a half-match behind both Rowan and Rutgers-Camden (3-3) however it does hold the tiebreakers having defeated both the Profs and Scarlet Raptors.
Montclair State registered a hitting efficiency of .321 for the match led by Wilson, who had a hitting percentage of .533 making just three errors in 30 attempts. White hit .346 on 26 attempts committing only two errors.
MSU trailed 5-2 in the first set but ran off four in row to take the lead and widened the margin to 15-7 after a 7-0 spurt behind the serving of
LILY SCANZILLO. Wilson had four kills in the seven-point run and added another making the score 19-10. After taking a 23-14 lead, two attack errors by the WPU ended the set with the Red Hawks taking a 1-0 lead with the 25-16 victory.
A quick 4-0 lead to open the second turned into 4-4 and a back-and-forth contest with the Pioneers going up 15-12. Montclair countered with the next four points to take the lead, but fell behind 18-17 after Chelliah Phillips getting a kill and block. Two kills by White sparked a 3-0 run swinging the score back in favor of Montclair 20-18. The teams traded points before MSU scored the final three to end the second set. White finished it off with an ace giving the Red Hawks a 2-0 set lead following a 25-21 triumph.
Wilson had two kills and block in a six-point run by the Red Hawks in the third making the score 13-6. WPU climbed back into the set a 16-11 however White and
CAITLIN LANGE sandwiched kills around two Pioneers miscues pushing the lead to 20-11. Leading 22-13, MSU closed out the match with the final three points.
APRIL DIANGELO had six kills and 11 digs with setter
ASHLEY GRIFFITH totaling 41 assists along with two aces and three digs.
NATALIA MAJKUT had six kills and three digs with Scanzillo leads all players with 16 digs.
The Red Hawks return to action on Friday, October 13 at the Stevens Invitational in Hoboken. Montclair State will face Coast Guard Academy at 4:00 pm followed by a 6pm matchup with in-state rival FDU-Florham.
