Hoboken, NJ – The Montclair State volleyball team fell back to .500 mark after the Red Hawks dropped their first two matches at the Stevens Invitational on Friday evening.
The Red Hawks (11-11) fell in four sets to the Coast Guard Academy before suffering a straight-set loss to in-state rival FDU-Florham.
NATALIA MAJKUT and
SCHYLER WHITE had 10 kills apiece against Coast Guard, which knocked off MSU 30-28, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15.
JILLIAN WILSON added eight kills while
SIYARA HERBERT total seven along with three aces and 12 digs. Majkut and
CAITLIN LANGE posted three blocks each while
ASHLEY GRIFFITH had 26 assists and five digs. Lily Scanillo led all players with 20 digs.
SARAH GONCZLIK and Alex Booker had nine and eight kills respectively in the loss to FDU-Florham. The Devils took the match 25-13, 25-14 and 25-15.
MEGAN O'ROURKE put up 17 assists. Gonczlik and Scanzillo each recorded nine digs.
Montclair State continues action at Stevens on Saturday, October 14 taking on the host school at 10:00 am before facing Union College at 2:00 pm.
