Glassboro, NJ – Cassie Wagner scored off a shot from the top of the circle with 3:13 remaining as Rowan University shocked No. 7 Montclair State, 2-1 on Friday evening.
Jenni Panzarino had goal for the Profs, who improved to 9-5 overall while squaring their NJAC record at 2-2 in addition to perhaps gaining a major tiebreaker advantage as Montclair State fell to 2-2 in league play as well.

KAITLYN STRUSS scored the lone goal for Montclair State, which dropped its second straight contest following a 12-game winning streak to open the year.
A tight defensive battle throughout the first half, the Profs collected the first goal of the game converting a penalty corner. Off the insert, Julie Johnson fired a shot from the top of the circle that Panzarino deflected in giving the hosts the 1-0 lead with 16:33 to play in the first.
Struss tied the game five minutes later with her team-leading 12
th goal of the season. Junior
AMBER HASLETT recorded the assist as the teams headed to the break knotted at 1-1.
The second half played much like the first, a defensive battle until the final minutes when Rowan came up with the go-ahead goal. Dayna DeVincentz inserted a ball off a penalty corner to the top of the circle. Wagner took the feed and cashed in with what turned out to be the difference in the game.
Katilin Maguire had three saves for the Red Hawks.
Montclair will look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday, October 17 when it faces No. 14 Kean University in Union at 7:30 pm.
