SIYARA HERBERT recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 11 digs however Montclair State's comeback bid fell short as the Red Hawks dropped a five-set match to New York University on Thursday evening.

APRIL DIANGELO added 11 kills for the MSU (12-14), which lost its second straight five-set contest. Montclair State fell to Moravian College on Tuesday in five.
After losing the first two sets 25-17 and 25-18, Montclair stayed alive with a 25-20 victory in the third. The Red Hawks then hit .370 in the fourth and cruised to a 25-13 forcing the deciding set.
Montclair's momentum carried in to the fifth with the Red Hawks scoring the first three points, however NYU countered with nine consecutive points. Rayne Ellis and Nazzerine Waldon had three and two kills respectively as the Violets went in front 9-3.
The Red Hawks answered with three points making the score 9-6 but NYU virtually put the set and match away with a 5-0 run for a 14-6 advantage. Herbert kept the match going with a kill and an ace by
ALEXANDRA CAMPOS got MSU within 14-8. But Waldon ended any thoughts of a comeback with her 16
th and final kill for the 15-8 victory.
JILLIAN WILSON and
CAITLIN LANGE had six kills and four blocks apiece.
ASHLEY GRIFFITH recorded 37 assists and six digs.
LILY SCANZILLO led all players with 19 digs.
MSU is back in action on Saturday, October 21 with a tri-match at Hunter College. Montclair faces in-state rival FDU-Florham for the second time in a week at Noon before taking on the host Hawks at 2:00 pm.
