No. 10 Field Hockey Dominates Ramapo in 3-0 Win

Watson Goal, Assist Helps Red Hawks Clinch NJAC Tournament Berth

Montclair, NJ – Sophomore KELLY WATSON had a goal and assist as 10th-ranked Montclair State dominated both ends of the field in a 3-0 win over Ramapo College on Friday evening at Sprague Field.

KAILEY DALGAUER and AMBER HASLETT each registered a goal as the Red Hawks (15-2) also nailed down a spot in the NJAC Tournament which begins next Wednesday, November 1. MSU is currently in third place at 4-2, a half-game in front of Rowan with both teams trailing Kean (4-1) and TCNJ (5-1).

Montclair could either be the No. 2, 3 or four seed depending on the outcome of Saturday's final two NJAC contests – Rowan vs. Stockton and William Paterson vs. Kean.

MSU recorded its fifth shutout of the season as it stifled Ramapo's offensive attack, limiting the Roadrunners to just one shot in the game and none during the first half.

Meanwhile Montclair got the only goal it needed 2:25 into the contest. Junior VICTORIA ROSSI picked up a loose ball in the circle on the right side and sent a pass back across to the left post for Dalgauer who slammed the feed inside the left post for her seventh goal of the season.

The Red Hawks added to the lead 10 minutes later as Watson tallied her third of the year at the 12:15 mark. Off the penalty corner, Dalgauer fired a shot from the right wing that Roadrunner keeper Emily Wisneski foot-saved. The ball bounced over to the left side where Watson was there to stuff in the rebound giving Montclair a 2-0 advantage.

Watson would be the helper on Montclair's third goal as MSU once again capitalized on a penalty corner. Sending a pass to the wing, Haslett blasted shot for her 12th goal of the year making the score 3-0.

Senior KAITLIN MAGUIRE was the beneficiary of the of Montclair's solid defensive effort as she picked up her third shutout of the season and the eighth of her career. Maguire was one of five seniors honored before the game along with SAMANTHA LISK, EMILY LUBACH, MEGHAN MOLLAHAN and KAITLYN STRUSS.

The turnaround is quick for Montclair State as the Red Hawks host No. 3 Babson College on Saturday, October 28 at 9:30 pm in a battle of NFHCA Top 25 teams. It will be the first meeting between the Red Hawks and Beavers (16-2).
