Box Score Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State men's soccer team overcame a two-goal deficit in the second-half to beat William Paterson, 3-2 in overtime in the first round of the NJAC Men's Soccer Championship at MSU Soccer Park on Saturday evening.
The Red Hawks (13-6-1) move on to the semifinals where they will face second-seeded Rutgers-Newark at Alumni Field on Wednesday, November 1 at 7:30 pm. It will be the second meeting in 10 days between the two as the Scarlet Raiders posted a 2-0 win in Montclair on October 21. The two teams also met in last years NJAC semifinals with Montclair State coming away with a 2-0 victory en route to capturing the conference title.
The Red Hawks went down in the 24' after midfielder JP Gonzales finished off Keysean Brant-Sharp cross to the back post. Gonzales struck again a minute later after following his own block shot to give William Paterson, (10-6-3) a seemingly commanding lead.
