JILLIAN WILSON put down the last of her 13 kills on match points as Montclair State rallied in the final two sets to defeat Rowan University, 3-2 at the Esby Gymnasium on Tuesday evening.

SCHYLER WHITE also collected 13 kills as the Red Hawks (9-8, 2-3 NJAC) scored the final three points to win the decisive fifth set, 16-14. Montclair lost the first set 25-21 but evened the match with a 25-23 win in the second. After the Profs (9-10, 2-3 NJAC) won the third 25-21, MSU forced the final set with a 25-20 win in the fourth.
The team split the first eight points before Rowan grabbed a 10-6 lead on a kill by Jamie Shirtz. After MSU closed the gap the Profs' Taylor Modica extended the lead to 12-9 before the Red Hawks countered with three straight – the last a block by Wilson knotting the set at 12-12. Trading the next two points, and attack error put Montclair's back against the wall at 14-13.
The Red Hawks however stormed back. Freshman
SARAH GONCZLIK tied the score at 14-14 with a kill and White followed with another giving MSU a chance to take the match at 15-14. Montclair would capitalize on the opportunity as April DiAgnelo set up Wilson for the winning point.
Sophomore Catilin Lange was solid at the net with nine kills and six solo blocks.
NATALIA MAJKUT, the NJAC Defensive Player of the Week had three blocks along with eight kills with Gonczlik chipping in with seven kills along with 10 digs.
ASHLEY GRIFFITH registered 44 assists along with nine digs. Libero
LILY SCANZILLO led all MSU player with 14 digs with DiAngelo and White recording 12 and 11 digs respectively.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, October 7 with an 11:00 am match at home against John Jay College.
