Waterville, ME – The Montclair State men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season as the Red Hawks fell to Eastern Connecticut, 72-55 in the Colby Classic on Saturday afternoon at Colby College.

JOVANNI CHATHAM led the Red Hawks (3-1) with 12 points while freshman backcourt mate
MYLES MITCHELL-WHITE added 10.
Montclair State led by as many as seven points in the first half as a free throw by
EDDIE EMEDOH made the score 12-5 with 13:40 remaining. The seven-point advantage would eventually become a four-point deficit however MSU was able to recover and led 35-34 at the break after Bogus finished off a three-point play with 41 ticks to go.
The Warriors (4-0) used a 7-0 run early in the second half to take the lead for good. Carlos Gonzalez converted a free throw giving ECSU a 44-38 lead with 14:56 left. Montclair trailed 49-42 with 12:23 to play but five consecutive points by Tarchee Brown boosted the lead to 55-42 with 11 minutes to play. Montclair crept within 56-49 on two free throws by Chatham but countered with two from the line and Gonzalez scored four in a row pushing the ECSU lead back to 62-49 with 5:40 left.
Bogus finished with nine points for Montclair State which got eight points and nine rebounds from Emedoh.
TIM ALGENIO had six points off the bench.
The Red Hawks will face University of Maine-Presque Isle in the third-place game on Sunday, November 26 at 1:00 pm.
