Auburndale, FL - The Montclair State baseball team was swept in a doubleheader in the RussMatt Inviational by SUNY Oswego on Saturday morning.
Oswego, recently ranked 17th in the nation by D3baseball.com, took the games 9-4 and 6-0, both in seven innings. John Barnes and Kyle Simmons led the Lakers on offense, going a collective 9-13 with 5 RBIs combined between the two games.Â
The Red Hawks were held to only ten hits in the double-header, three of them by right fielder
RYAN LONG. Both Oswego starters, Mitchell Cavanagh and Tim Cronin, went the distance. Cavanagh allowed four runs in the opener on six hits, striking out eight and one walk, while also throwing four wild pitches and hitting a batter. Cronin threw seven innings of scoreless ball, allowing four hits and hitting a batter while striking out one.Â

MICHAEL MANFRA took the losses for MSU. Montclair is now 3-8, while Oswego is now 8-2.Â
The Red Hawks finish off their appearance in the RussMatt Invitational with a 9:00 am matchup with Suffolk University.
