BRADY WULSTER each scored three times as Montclair State picked up its second straight victory in an 11-5 win over Stockton University in the Skyline Conference action on Wednesday.
DAN BELLEZZA added a goal and four assists as the Red Hawks posted the first four goals of the game and never looked back in improving to 2-6 on the year, 2-0 in league play. Stockton fell to 9-2 overall, 2-1 in the Skyline as the Ospreys' seven-game win streak came to an end.
Haemmerle scored the first two goals of the contest, each set up by Bellezza. Wulster recorded his first goal of the game with 9:01 left and
JON RICE tallied 57 seconds later as
MSU led 4-0. Stockton's Brandon Nunez put the host on the board with five minutes left however
BRYAN PETERS scored with 3:19 on the clock as Montclair led 5-1 after one period.
Defense ruled most of the second quarter with Stockton's Mark Scherzer finding the back of the net with 2:52 to play before halftime.
COREY CARLSON countered for the Red Hawks 63 seconds later giving Montclair a 6-2 advantage at the break.
Carlson's goal ignited what turned out to be a six-goal run by MSU, which scored four times in the third to widen its lead to 10-4. Wulster had the first and last goals in the spurt, including a man-up goal with 4:09 remaining. Defenseman
RYAN YOUNG, who finished with five ground balls, also connected in the run that carried into the fourth.
After assisting on four goals earlier in the contest, Bellezza got one of his own scoring 50 seconds into the final period on a man-up opportunity.
The Red Hawks outshot the Ospreys 55-29 and scooped up 27 ground balls compared to just 12 by Stockton.
LUCAS JONES made seven saves for Montclair, which got a solid performance on face-offs from Skyline Player of the Week Blasé Mantineo, who was 11-of-15 with seven ground balls.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, April 1 traveling to Newburgh, NY to face Mount St. Mary College at 3:00 pm.
