Montclair, NJ – Senior midfielder
FRANCESCA VERRONE, the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week scored three times and added four assist as Montclair cruised to its second straight victory in a 17-5 win over Ramapo College on Tuesday evening.
Junior
CHELSEA ORBAN collected a team-best five goals as the Red Hawks improved to 9-4 overall, 2-1 in the NJAC with their 10
th win in as many tries against the Roadrunners (5-7, 0-3 NJAC). Ava Rinaldi scored three times for Ramapo.
MSU tallied the first five goals of the game including scores by Verrone and Orban in the first two minutes.
MEGAN MAHLSTADT finished off a feed from
SYDNEE SAPP with 21:07 and back-to-back goals from
AVIANA PARAGGIO and Orban 33 seconds apart gave Montclair a 5-0 lead with 20:08 to play.
Rinaldi snapped the MSU run with her first goal however
CASEY PROVOST connected a minute later with
LINDSAY LARE and Orban scoring 13 seconds apart boosting the Red Hawk lead to 8-1 with 14:29 remaining.
COLLEEN MANLEY answered for Ramapo but Montclair countered with two goals, including one by Paraggio just before the horn as Montclair State led 10-2 at the half.
???????Paraggio and Lare each collected three goals while
KYLE GRAVER added two assists.
LAYAL ISSA had four caused turnovers and six ground balls with Lare pulling in four draws. Verrone and Sapp had three apiece as the Red Hawks won 14 of the 23 contested in the game.
AMANDA MAGUIRE made four saves.
Monica Bubello had 16 saves for the Roadrunners after entering the game midway through the first half.
The Red Hawks return to action on Friday, April 21 with a road contest in Galloway, NJ against Stockton University beginning at 4:00 pm.
