KYLE GRAVER scored all three of her goals during a six-goal run bridging the two halves as Montclair State posted its third straight win in an 11-6 victory over Stockton University on Saturday.
Senior
FRANCESCA VERRONE scored four times for the Red Hawks, who reached double-digits for victories improving to 10-4 overall, 3-1 in the NJAC. Mary Schmid and Alexa Rubino had two goals apiece for the Ospreys, who are now 9-3 overall, 3-2 in conference play.
Rubino gave Stockton a 1-0 however Verrone scored twice putting the Red Hawks up 2-1 with 18:46 left in the first half. Schmid's goal thee minutes later knotted the contest up however Montclair State began its decisive run with nine minutes to play before halftime.
Verrone scored the first goal with 8:58 left with
GRACE CONLON registering another 47 seconds later for a 4-2 advantage. Graver had the next two, the last with 5:34 remaining as MSU led 6-2 at the break.
LINDSAY LARE opened up the scoring in the second with her 31
st of the year and Graver's third with 22:22 to go widened the lead to 8-2. Stockton answered with three in a row trimming the lead back to 8-5 however the Red Hawks scored the next three to go up 10-5 with 6:21 left. Verrone,
JESSICA ANDREULA and
CHELSEA ORBAN each found the back of the net in that spurt.
AMANDA MAGUIRE made seven saves for the Red Hawks while Conlon and Verrone recorded three caused turnover apiece. Lare led MSU with three draws and
LEANNE MCCLOSKEY posted a team-best six ground balls.
Montclair State is now off until Tuesday, April 25 with another road contest. MSU heads to Union, NJ to face Kean University at 4:00 pm.
