Union, NJ – Taylor Hynes had a hand in all three goals in a key three-goal run by Kean University as the Cougars upended Montclair State 8-6 at Alumni Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Hynes and Morgan Graham scored two goals apiece as the Cougars (10-5) knocked off the Red Hawks for the first time in 18 years. Kean snapped a 22-game losing streak against MSU winning for the first time since an 18-15 triumph in Union on April 17, 1999.

LINDSAY LARE scored three times for Montclair State (10-5), which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.
The Red Hawks and Cougars are currently tied for second place in the conference standings at 3-2, a half-game behind Rowan at 4-2. Both teams have one NJAC game remaining on Saturday, April 29. Montclair hosts Rutgers-Camden while Kean faces The College of New Jersey in Union.
Kean led 2-0 five minutes into the game however Montclair would answer over the next 10 minutes. Lare got the first with 21:14 left and
NATALIE BADE knotted the game with 13:53. That tie was short-lived as Graham scored 20 seconds later.
Lare tied the game two minutes later and the teams headed into halftime deadlocked at 3-3.
The alternating of goals continued into the second half. Krista LaMaina put Kean in front however
GRACE CONLON countered for the Red Hawks forging a 4-4 tie with 19:20 left. Emily Stasuk put the Cougars back in front but again MSU answered as
CHELSEA ORBAN connected 57 seconds later making the score 5-5.
Meghan Tillger began the decisive spurt for Kean with 12:17 to play finishing off a feed from Hynes. It remained a one-goal game for the next 10 minutes when Hynes scored with the Cougars a player up for a 7-5 lead with 2:51 left. Hynes then fed Brittany Ballack 43 seconds later for a goal that all but clinched the victory.
