Galloway, NJ – Senior Phil Scott had four hits and five different Red Hawks drove in two runs in the nightcap as Montclair State split its NJAC opener with Stockton University on Sunday afternoon.

SEBASTIAN SEVERIO all had two RBI as MSU (7-11, 1-1 NJAC) bounced back from its Game 1 loss with a 14-5 victory. The Red Hawks lost the first game 12-5.
The Ospreys (9-9, 1-1 NJAC) took the lead in the second game as a sacrifice fly gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Montclair State with 11 consecutive runs starting with two in the fifth as a ground out from
MATT LONG tied the score before Scott singled back through the middle putting MSU on top 2-1.
RYAN LONG's two-run single in the sixth extended the lead to 4-1 and the Red Hawks exploded for seven runs in the eighth inning.
MATT LONG drove in the first run with Norton adding another on a fielder's choice. Tedesco was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and an error led to two more runs giving MSU the lead at 9-1. Severio capped the inning with a two-run double putting Montclair up 11-1.
Stockton rallied for four runs in its half of the eighth but the Red Hawks countered with three in the top of the ninth. Norton and Tedesco had RBI single with
MICHAEL MUENTENER adding an RBI double.
Righthander
CONNOR LINDSAY was the beneficiary of the offensive support as he improved to 2-2 on the year. Lindsay went the first seven innings striking out 10 and allowing seven hits. Anthony DiBlasio and
TAYLOR PARSONS finished up with a scoreless inning each
Scott finished 4-for-6 to lead a 19-hit attack for Montclair State.
RYAN LONG, Norton, Muentener, Tedesco,
JUSTIN EPIFANIO and Severio all had two hits apiece.
In the opener, Scott and
IAN LYNCH each drove in a run in the first giving Montclair a quick 2-0 lead. Scott had an RBI in the second making the score 3-1 however the Ospreys tied the game in the third. A double by
JOE FOOTE and RBI single by Lynch regained the lead for MSU at 5-3. However the Ospreys would tally the final 11 runs in the contest including a four-run eighth to put the game away.
RYAN LONG, Foote and Lynch each had two hits for Montclair. Righthander
AUSTIN MINTON (1-2) took the loss.
MSU is back in action on Tuesday, April 4 at home against Scranton with first pitch scheduled for 4:00 pm.
