Ramapo, NJ - Men's soccer drops first New Jersey Atlantic Conference game against Ramapo College, thanks to Ariton Mimini '87 winner.
The defending NJAC champions Red Hawks were looking to start off the new league campaign on the right foot, but stumbled at Ramapo. Despite 10 first-half shots by MSU, they were held scoreless. MSU has struggled finishing in the final third, which has led to a draw and a loss in the last two games.
Ramapo's Edward Franzoni opened the scoring in the '17, and the home side held on to the lead going into the half.
MIKE TARANTO, who leads the team in scoring with now five goals, equalized for the visiting team in the '59. Taranto led the team in shots, four of which were on goal. Junior forward
RAFAEL TERCI had a quiet game with just two shots.
Although MSU led in the shot department (20-12), the Roadrunners managed to score the winner in the '87, avoiding extra period(s). Junior goalkeeper made three saves in the lost.
Montclair State returns home on Monday September, 18, to face College of Mount Saint Vincent at 7:00 PM.
