Newark, NJ – The Montclair State volleyball dropped its second straight and fell to 0-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with a four-set loss to Rutgers-Newark at the Golden Dome on Thursday evening.
The Red Hawks' six-match winning streak against the Scarlet Raiders came to an end as Rutgers-Newark (5-5, 1-2 NJAC) won the first two sets 25-21 and 25-22. MSU (6-5) avoided the sweep with a 25-20 win in the third however the host flipped the score in the fourth to close out the match.
Sophomore
SCHYLER WHITE led the Red Hawks with 12 kills and added 12 digs while
JILLIAN WILSON collected 11 kills along with a pair of blocks. Setter
ASHLEY GRIFFITH recorded 39 assists and six kills with Ta-Mya Allen registering six kills.
CAITLIN AARTS matched White for the team lead with 12 digs.
Montclair will look for the elusive first conference victory on Tuesday, September 26 when it hosts Rutgers-Camden at the Panzer Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 pm.
