Montclair, NJ - The Red Hawks triumphed in a must win conference game on Saturday after beating Rutgers-Camden 2-0, with goals scored by veterans
MIKE TARANTO and
RAFAEL TERCI.
Taranto, who leads the team in scoring and points with six goals, 14 points, opened up the scoring in the early stages of the game after finishing Terci's pass in the '3. That goal proved to be enough as the Red Hawks shutout the Scarlet Raptors on the road.
Both sides managed five shots a piece in the first-half in what seemed to be a close game, but junior playmaker Terci's (4th of the season) second period goal in the '59 powered MSU to their first conference win of the season.
With Kean and Stockton University all coming up for the Red Hawks, MSU needed this win to stay alive in league play. Going 0-2 would have placed Todd Tumelty's squad in a tough spot.
Montclair State goes into Wednesday's matchup versus Kean on a two game winning streak, will the streak continue? Come find out at MSU Soccer Park as the kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
