Men's Soccer Rolls Past Stockton for Fourth Straight Win

Taranto Leads Red Hawks to Third NJAC win

Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State men's soccer team is on a roll after the Red Hawks posted their fourth straight victory with a 3-0 win over Stockton University at MSU Soccer Park on Saturday evening.

The Ospreys entered the game with an 8-1-1 overall record with two NJAC wins, while the Red Hawks were on a three-game winning streak. After a scoreless first-half where both teams fought hard to get ahead, MSU forward RAFAEL TERCI opened the scoring in the 58th minute, dribbling past multiple Stockton's defenders before placing his shot in the right corner.

Freshman forward GRIFFIN BACON netted his first collegiate goal in the 75th minute controlling a pass from forward MATT NETO and putting it pass goalkeeper Kellen Groover. Stockton had several opportunities to level up the score, including a shot that hit the crossbar in the first period. Meanwhile Red Hawks goalkeeper MIKE SAALFRANK made five saves registering his fifth shutout of the season.

Senior forward MIKE TARANTO, the team's leading goal scorer, capped off the scoring in the 88th minute with a bullet shot past a diving Groover for his seventh of the year.

Montclair State will look to extend their winning streak on Monday, October 2 when Yeshiva University visits MSU Soccer Park for a 7:00 pm matchup.
