No. 8 Field Hockey Edges Ramapo on Cimilluca's Late Goal, 1-0

Red Hawks Win Sixth Straight

Mahwah, NJ – Sophomore midfielder ELIZABETH CIMILLUCA scored with 5:22 remaining in regulation lifting No. 8 Montclair State to a 1-0 victory over Ramapo College on Wednesday afternoon.

Cimilluca's goal helped the Red Hawks to their sixth consecutive victory as MSU moved to 13-1 on the season while remaining unbeaten in conference play at 3-0. Samantha Stolker made 16 saves for Ramapo, which fell to 4-8 overall, 0-3 in the NJAC.

Montclair State dominated the stat sheet out shooting the Roadrunners 35-9 in the contest however it could not get one past Stolker until the waning moments of the contest. Stolker made five in the first half including back-to-back stops against VICTORIA ROSSI and AMBER HASLETT in the 21st minute. The Red Hawks' NICOLE ANDRIANI was equally up to the test denying Jessica Cacoso on consecutive attempts inside the final 90 seconds of the opening period.

The back and forth between the goalkeepers continued into the second half with Stolker making 12 save while Andriani had three.

Montclair then came up with the only score of the game at the 64:38 mark. Haslett took possession of the ball on the right side and drove in before firing the ball into the circle. KELLIE VIZZUSO picked up the pass and managed to flip it over to Cimilluca, who blasted in the feed for her third goal of the season.

Andriani registered her fifth shutout of the season for MSU, which also held the advantage in penalty corners, 20-6.

The Red Hawks return to action with a key NJAC matchup on Saturday, October 13 in Ewing, NJ as MSU takes on No. 4 The College of New Jersey at 1:00 pm.
