Women's Soccer Late Rally Not Enough in Loss to Stockton, 3-2

Freshmen Bathmann, DeGeyter Goals for Red Hawks

Montclair, NJ – Emily Frazee scored twice in a 43-second span and that turned out to be the difference as Stockton University knocked off Montclair State 3-2 at MSU Soccer Park on Saturday evening.

Susan Porambo had a goal for the Ospreys (10-3-3, 4-1-2 NJAC), who won for the fourth time in its last five matches. Freshmen Emily DeGetyer and LINDSAY BATHMANN and (9-3-3, 4-2-1 NJAC), which had its three-match winning streak halted.

Porambo put Stockton up 1-0 at the 8:15 mark with her fourth goal of the season. The freshman fired a shot toward the left post that went through the hands of MSU keeper LINDSAY FREEWALT for the game's first goal.

The Ospreys held that lead through halftime and 15 minutes into second half before Frazee collected her first two goals. The first came on a failed clear by Montclair as the ball caromed off a defender out to Frazee who flipped a shot inside the right post making the score 2-0. Frazee made it a three-goal advantage seconds later as she took a serve from Kiersten Reszkowski on the top right corner of the 6 before knocking in a shot inside the far post for her fifth of the year.

Montclair State battled back into the match with 15 minutes to go. MICHAELA KNOBLOCK pushed a pass from the right side that caromed off a defender out to Bathmann, who fired a shot to the left post making the score 3-1.

The deficit shrunk to one with 4:42 left as this time MADDY MCLELLAND was the facilitator. Making a move inside the box from the left side, McLelland connected with DeGeyter for the goal and a 3-2 Stockton lead. But that would be as close as the Montclair State would get as Stockton did not allow a shot the rest of the way.

Nicole Pallante finished with four saves for Stockton, which was outshot in the game 13-6. Freewalt made three saves for MSU.

The Red Hawks are now off until Saturday, October 20 when it travels to Ewing, NJ to face The College of New Jersey in a 6:00 pm match.
