Women's Soccer Clipped Late at Stevens, 2-1

Red Hawks Two-Match Win Streak Halted

Hoboken, NJ – Ally Wanzor scored in the 76th minute lifting Stevens past Montclair State, 2-1 at DeBaun Field on Tuesday evening.

Olivia Butera had a goal for the Ducks, who improved to 7-2 on the season. Junior EMILY BEENDERS netted the lone goal for the Red Hawks (6-2-3), who had their two-match winning streak snapped with the loss.

Butera gave the hosts the lead on the first shot of the game at the 5:47 mark. Off a free kick, Julia Panko tapped a pass to Butera, who blasted a shot from outside the box into the net for her first goal of the season.

Montclair would get a chance to tie the game six minutes later however a MADISON MARTINO shot was knocked away off the line by a defender. The Red Hawks would get the equalizer just past the 23rd minute as Beenders scored her ninth of the season tapping in a misplayed ball by the keeper.

That is the way the game stayed until the 76th minute when Stevens netted the game-winner. Wanzor split a double-team and got just inside the 18 before unleashing a shot for her fourth goal of the year.

LINDSAY FREEWALT stopped 10 shots for the Red Hawks.

Montclair State is back in action on Saturday, October 6 on the road in Mahwah at Ramapo College for a 1:00 pm NJAC matchup with the Roadrunners.
