CHRISTINE MAYORGA snapped a scoreless tie early in the second half which turned out to be the lone goal as Montclair State knocked off Ramapo College, 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
MADDY MCLELLAND got the assists as the Red Hawks improved to 7-2-3 on the season, 3-1-1 in conference play.
LINDSAY FREEWALT stopped a pair of shots for her fifth shutout of the season.
MSU put up 10 shots in the first half, however it could not get one past Elizabeth Harvell who made two stops in the first 45 minutes. Ramapo also knocked away two other chances by Montclair with saves off the backline.
Harvell opened the second with another save but couldn't come up with one against Mayorga, who notched her first goal of the season at 53:01. Freewalt preserved that score with a save versus Lauren Vladyka with 17:51 to play.
Montclair State outshot the Roadrunners 23-5 in the game and took five of the six corner kicks.
The Red Hawks are back in action on Monday, October 8 at home against College of Staten Island with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 pm.
