Montclair, NJ – Freshman Emily Bathmann netted a goal and an assist as Montclair State raced past College of Staten Island 5-0 at MSU Soccer Park on Monday evening.
Junior
EMILY BEENDERS added a goal and assist as the Red Hawks scored three times early and cruised to its second consecutive victory. Montclair moved to 8-2-3 on the season as it topped the Dolphins (7-6) for the third consecutive meeting.
Bathmann set up MSU's first goal in the seventh minute serving a long ball down the right sideline where
MICHAELA KNOBLOCK ran on to it and moved toward the near post before firing a shot that clipped the post and bounced in for her second goal of the season.
MADISON MARTINO made it a 2-0 game 81 seconds later as she collected her third. Bathmann got one of her own at the 11:08 mark finishing off a feed from Beenders for a three-goal advantage.
Beenders registered her 10
th goal of the year in the second half with
GABRIELLE TANCREDI finishing off the scoring in the 78
th minute as she buried a shot into the upper left corner of the goal for her fourth.
Sophomore
PHOEBE BLEDSOE recorded her first shutout of the season making seven saves.
Montclair State is back in action on Wednesday, October 10 with an NJAC contest in Jersey City, NJ. The Red Hawks face New Jersey City at the Thomas M. Gerrity Complex beginning at 4:00 pm.
