Madison, NJ – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams split their dual meet at Drew University on Saturday. The women (1-2) picked up their first win of the season with a 137-98 victory while the men suffered a 112-107 loss to the Rangers.
Junior
MADISON FRANKE, a triple-winner on Friday, added two more victories as she captured the 50 freestyle (25.19) and 100 freestyle (54.89).
CLAIRE LUIGARD also won twice taking the top spot in the 200 IM at 2:17.88 and the 200 breaststroke, clocking in at 2:37.50.
Luigard was also part of the 200 medley relay squad along with
EMILY ROTHAMEL,
MARGAUX WINCHOCK and
CHRISTINA CUSMANO as the quartet posted a winning time of 1:55.70. Rothamel earned her own individual win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:12.71.
Senior
GRACE NIELSEN claimed both diving sections winning the 1-meter with a score of 241.65 and the 3-meters with a total of 229.35.
PONSEE IBRAHIM was second in each at 192.30 and 129.83 points, respectively.
For the men,
KEVIN GIBSON and freshman
TYLER DORSETT finished 1-2 in the 1000 freestyle with Gibson (10:25.18) out-touching Dorsett (10:25.23) by .05 seconds.
HUNTER ROMANOWSKI won the 100 freestyle (48.38) with
JAMES SINGEWALD (2:03.42) taking first in the 200 backstroke.
KEVIN CLAUSS swam 2:16.84 to win the 200 breaststroke.
Singewald, Clauss and Romanowski joined
KEVIN HENNINGSEN on the 200 medley relay that swam 1:39.53 for a first-place finish in that event.
The Red Hawks are back in action on Saturday, October 27 with its first NJAC dual meet of the season. Montclair will be in Ewing, NJ to face The College of New Jersey at 12pm.
