Bethlehem, PA – For the second straight match the Montclair State volleyball team needed five sets however the Red Hawks were able to pull out a victory with a 3-2 victory at Moravian College on Saturday morning.
Freshman
CARLY WATERMAN posted a double-double of 15 kills and 10 digs for Montclair (16-6), which captured the first two sets by identical 25-22 scores before losing the next two 25-22 and 25-23. The Red Hawks won the decisive fifth set 15-12.
After falling behind 1-0 in the fifth set,

NATALIA MAJKUT and Waterman had kills putting MSU in front 3-1. The Greyhounds took the lead however back-to-back Waterman kills put Montclair back in front 6-4. She would add another with an error boosting the lead to 8-5.
The teams traded the next three points before a service error and kill by Majkut extended the lead to 11-7. Moravian trimmed the lead back to points but MSU responded with three in a row for a 14-9 lead after an attack error by the hosts. The Greyhounds made a run of their own getting within 14-12 however a service error ended the match.
White recorded 12 kills for the Red Hawks while Majkut finished with 11 kills and three blocks.
LEAH HIGGINS chipped in with 10 kills and MSU got nine kills from junior Catilin Lange.
ASHLEY GRIFFITH had a double-double of her own with 49 assists and 14 digs.
SIYARA HERBERT reached double figures for digs with 10.
The Red Hawks are back in action on Tuesday, October 23 when it hosts Hunter College on Senior Night at the Panzer Athletic Center. MSU will honor its five seniors – Majkut, Griffith,
DANIELLE MURRAY,
APRIL DIANGELO and
ANDREA MARTORANA prior to the contest that begins at 7pm.
